Michael Dishno

Founder and Producer

california producer

Man of Mars began as Michael’s personal passion project—an outlet for experimenting with recording, mixing, mastering, and producing his own music. Over time, MOM became more than just a solo endeavor; it evolved into a collaborative space where artists could explore and shape their sound together. Through this journey, Michael discovered the power of creative partnership—free from industry pressure, rooted in authenticity. That spirit of collaboration is at the heart of 9Ball Creative: helping artists find their voice and make something that’s truly theirs.

Recent Release Dish

Dish, a new project from Michael and his wife Alexandra (AD), was recently released to experiment with a newer sound. Less synths than MOM but still a similar vibe.

MOM

half-baked junk drawer [2024]

“The half-baked junk drawer album consists of 11 songs that have been recorded over the last 10 years. Some of the songs aren’t finished by were taking up space in my mental junk drawer and I need to clear it out. I love the songs very much but releasing them was a way to move onto the next set of projects.”

“The album has a collection of instrumentals and lyric-based songs but all are held close to my heart. Many of the instrumentals I had intended to right lyrics for made it to that part of the process but I’m still happy with the way they turned out. Tunes like Love Like New were a fun way to try something different with the sound while remaining under the MOM collaborative umbrella.”

Single

“Feels Bad was written during a period when I was plagued with stomach issues, primarily caused by gluten, hence the bread, which I also have tattooed on my arm. This is a feel good song that allowed me to experiment with an upbeat rhythm that I originally created in Logic on an Apple Store demo computer.”

Single

“Swimming Pools was a song centered around simple chords and heart-felt lyrics by me and my fellow writer, Ethan. The song has come to mean a lot to me since its release and is a great example that there’s not rules… As an artist, you can put out a 7 and a half minute long song if that’s how you want to express yourself.”

Where it started

“Genesis was so aptly named as the start of MOM. The album built on collaboration through lyrics, music, and vibes. The album is low-budget and is a good example of how much I’ve learned over the years about production. There’s a thousand things I may have done differently but I’m still proud of what came from the recording experience.”
